How to Plan outfits for a family session
Figuring out what you and your family are going to wear to a photo session can seem extremely daunting. Making sure everyone has something to match everyone else, yet is cute can prove to be a challenge. But, fear not. I have a few concepts to consider to help make this task less stressful and more enjoyable.
KEEP IT SIMPLE
Neutrals are in. The great thing about this is that you probably own several pieces that fit this general description. Tans, beiges, creams, whites, blacks, even dark, burnt oranges are so common and look great. Once you have selected the neutrals to wear, you can incorporate a pattern that coincides with your neutrals. The picture below is a perfect example of using neutrals as the base and using a pattern to create texture and a pop of color yet is not distracting! This keeps you and your family the attention of the photos rather than busy or bold outfits!

analyze your home
This is so important especially if you plan on hanging any of the images on your walls. Look at your home. What colors have you decorated with? What patterns are you drawn to? What colors would flow nicely as wall decorations? Stick to what you already know you like to see in your home. Do not just settle on colors that seem to go together just because you own all the outfits and you do not actually love what they look like together. If you do not love the combinations now, you won't love it when you get the images back!

Feel confident
Another essential aspect of choosing the perfect outfit to wear is to make sure whatever you choose is something that you feel confident in. Feeling empowered in a piece of clothing can be the difference between loving the images and hating them. You want to look at your images and say, "I look great!". You do not want to feel like you have to hide behind the kids in your photos. You want you to feel like no matter where you're placed in a photo, you are confident to be there! And, believe me, you will be able to see the difference between your confident face versus your uncomfortable one.

These three tips will hopefully give you the inspiration to create stunning outfits for your next family session that all your family and friends will love, and will cherish for years to come. Have fun mixing different neutral tones and patterns!
